DSB to Establish Panel for Indonesia's Challenge to EU's AD/CVD Measures on Steel Products
The World Trade Organization's Dispute Settlement Body agreed to Indonesia's second bid for a dispute panel on the EU's antidumping and countervailing duties on stainless steel cold-rolled flat products from Indonesia at the May 30 DSB meeting, a Geneva-based trade official emailed reporters this week. Indonesia's first request was denied at a past DSB meeting, prompting the second bid in which the nation said it is entitled to protect its national interests.

Also during the meeting, the DSB agreed to a request from Taiwan and India for more time for the DSB to consider adoption of the panel ruling on Taiwan's challenge to India's tariffs on various technology products. A dispute panel said the measures violated global trade rules. Both parties said the additional time would allow them to resolve the dispute. Japan won a similar challenge on the Indian tariffs, though at the DSB meeting, it criticized India's decision to appeal the ruling "into the void," given the non-functioning status of the Appellate Body (see 2305250056)
The EU also voiced its disagreement with Turkey's claim that it fully implemented the arbitrator's findings in the dispute on Turkish restrictions on the sale of pharmaceutical products, the trade official said. The bloc said it has many concerns about both the nature of the measures taken and their substance, declaring that it will continue monitoring the situation.
