Non-EU Countries Align With Recent Sanctions Decisions

A group of European countries not in the EU aligned with three recent sanctions decisions from the EU under its ISIL (Da'esh) and al-Qaeda, Syria and Iran sanctions regimes, the European Council said.

In late April, the council added two individuals and one entity to the ISIL sanctions list. The countries of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Ukraine, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Liechtenstein and Armenia aligned with the decision.

Also in late April, the council added 25 individuals and eight entities to its Syria sanctions regime. The countries of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Liechtenstein and Norway imposed the decision as well.

The EU also recently amended the list of individuals and entities subject to sanctions under the Iran restrictions regime. The countries of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Liechtenstein and Norway aligned with the decision.
