Administration Seeks to Boost Commerce Enforcement, Spend Less at CBP on Trade
The administration would like to spend $24 million more for the industry and analysis section of the International Trade Administration, and $9 million more for enforcement and compliance, according to a detailed budget request released March 13. The ITA request also includes $5 million to help Treasury in "scoping and implementing" an outbound investment review program (see 2303090061).

At CBP, trade and travel operations would have a reduction in appropriations if Congress agreed with the administration's request. Currently, there is $7,538,000 for that division, and the administration is requesting $7,422,000 for the fiscal year that begins Oct. 1.
The Republican majority in the House of Representatives has sworn to reduce spending.
