California’s automatic renewal law contains no private right of action, the court said. Also, consumer Luis Licea’s first amended complaint didn’t allege causation needed to establish standing under California’s unfair competition law, it said. Justice Frances Rothschild wrote the opinion. Justices Victoria Chaney and Gregory Weingart concurred.
