US Cabinet Trade Group Suggests Legal Action Over Antidumping Duty Review Results
The American Kitchen Cabinet Alliance in a Nov. 7 statement expressed its disappointment with the Commerce Department's final results in the first administrative review of the antidumping duty order on wooden cabinets and vanities from China, covering entries in 2019-2021. The group is weighing legal action over the review, Politico reported. In the review, Commerce found a zero percent antidumping margin for 16 companies (see 2211090008).

AKCA said that the margins "will allow China to re-enter the market with unfair trade practices that threaten the American cabinet industry." While the agency found a zero percent margin for mandatory respondent Qufu Xinyu Furniture Co., it set an adverse facts available rate of 251.64% for respondent Shanghai Beautystar since it failed to rebut the presumption of government control. Voluntary respondent Dalian Hualing suffered the same fate, getting the 251.64% rate. The 15 non-selected respondents got the zero margin.
"Today is a dark day for the domestic cabinet industry," said Betsy Natz, CEO of AKCA. "This determination ... treats China more favorably than almost every other country in the world. This reversal has the potential to decimate our great American industry. Just before the midterms, the Biden Administration has sided with Communist China and made a devastating policy decision that could kill more than 250,000 American manufacturing jobs. This decision will disproportionately impact minority workers and underserved communities who represent more than 40% of our workforce nationwide."
