Nearly Half of WTO Members Yet to Submit 2021 Subsidy Notifications
World Trade Organization members are lagging in submitting required subsidy notifications, the chair of the WTO ComEighty-nine members still have yet to submit their 2021 subsidy notifications by the mid-2021 deadline, Kerrlene Wills of Guyana, the committee chair, said. Another 76 members have not yet submitted their 2019 subsidy notifications, and 65 have not submitted their 2017 notifications.

At the meeting, seven WTO members urged their fellow members to submit their notifications for all covered subsidy programs. The committee also discussed the U.S.'s revised protocol for ensuring timely responses to questions posed by members under the Subsidies and Countervailing Measures agreement, the WTO said. Subsidy notifications for 2021 submitted by Albania, Argentina, Cuba, the EU (Austria, Germany, Luxembourg and Slovenia), India, Mexico, Moldova, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland and Turkey were also reviewed at the meeting. The next meeting of the committee takes place the week of May 1, 2023.
