Federal Circuit Proposes Host of Court Rules of Practice Changes
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in a Sept. 2 notice laid out 17 proposed amendments to its rules of practice that, if adopted, would take effect Dec. 1. Public comments on the proposed amendments are due by Oct. 3.

The amendments include, among others, reducing the number of paper copies required on rehearing or hearing en banc; clarifying that requests for reconsideration must be filed as rehearing petitions with limited exceptions; eliminating the need for a separate briefing schedule for an informal briefing; and clarifying that settlement discussion obligations do not apply to appellate intervenors. Some amendments align other parts of the rules to adapt to the new changes.
