CBP Extends Predeparture ACE Export Manifest Filing Test for Air Cargo

CBP will continue to test predeparture manifest filing for exports within ACE for air cargo, it said in a notice Dec. 22. The test will continue for another two years, CBP said. The agency previously expanded the test to more participants and made some data elements optional in 2017.

Under the test, the export manifests are required four hours prior to loading for air cargo. The optional elements for predeparture air cargo manifests are:

  • Number of pieces/unit of measure (Data Element #11)
  • Number of house air waybills (Data Element #13)
  • Split air waybill indicator (Data Element #18)
  • In-bond number (Data Element #21)
  • Mode of transportation (Data Element #22).
