BIS Denies Export Privileges for Illegal Exports to Mexico, Providing Services to Iran
The Bureau of Industry and Security revoked export privileges for two people for illegal exports to Mexico and one person for illegally providing financial services to Iran, BIS said in April 30 orders.

Abel Hernandez was convicted Aug. 29, 2019, after illegally exporting 2,080 rounds of “7.62X39mm caliber ammunition,” BIS said. Hernandez was sentenced to 27 months in prison, three years of supervised release and a $100 fine. BIS denied Hernandez’s export privileges for 10 years from the date of conviction.
Sergio Daniel Serrano-Lopez was convicted Aug. 30, 2019, of illegally exporting 5,000 rounds of ammunition and magazines to Mexico, BIS said. Serrano-Lopez was sentenced to 40 months in prison and a $100 fine. BIS denied Serrano-Lopez's export privileges for 10 years from the date of conviction.
Mehmet Hakan Atilla was convicted May 16, 2018, for working with others to provide financial services to Iran and the Iranian government without obtaining a Treasury Department license, BIS said. Atilla was sentenced to 32 months in prison and a $500 fine. BIS revoked Atilla’s export privileges for 10 years from the date of conviction.
