CBP to Implement Changes to Marking Requirements on Israeli, Palestinian Goods

CBP will make the changes to marking requirements on goods from Israel and Palestine previously announced by the State Department (see 2011200049), CBP said in a notice released Dec. 22. “Given commercial realities, affected parties may need a transition period to implement marking consistent with the position announced in this notice,” CBP said. As a result, the changes will take effect March 23, 2021.

Products made in the West Bank areas controlled by Israel -- known as Area C and H2 -- will be required to be marked as from Israel. Goods from the West Bank areas controlled by Palestine -- H1 and areas A and B -- must be marked as a from West Bank. CBP will also no longer allow goods from the areas to be “marked in conjunctive form, such as 'West Bank/Gaza,' 'West Bank/Gaza Strip,' 'West Bank and Gaza,' or words of similar meaning.”
