  • CBSA notice on how to transmit high volumes of cargo reports. The Canada Border Services Agency on July 8 issued Notice 20-24, which provides information on how to transmit high volumes of cargo reports, with a target audience of carriers, freight forwarders, importers, brokers and service providers. When the number of reports exceed 1,500, multiple electronic conveyance reports must be submitted and in highway mode, multiple eManifest lead sheets must be presented at arrival. Furthermore, if more than 2,000 Advance Commercial Information supplemental reports would otherwise be related to a single air or marine cargo, additional cargos reports must be submitted so that no more than 2,000 are related to a single cargo report. The notice provides recommendations on how to proceed.
  • CFIA issues new import restrictions on commercial dogs from Ukraine. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency after concluding its investigation into a large shipment of puppies from Ukraine has decided to cancel import permits for all commercial puppies under eight months of age from Ukraine, effective July 6, 2020 (see 2007070059).
