The government of Canada issued the following trade-related notices as of June 19 (note that some may also be given separate headlines):

  • Amendments to the Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff. The Canada Border Services Agency on June 18 issued Customs Notice 20-20, which amends the Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff based on the Canada-United States-Mexico Free Trade Agreement (CUSMA) and the Canada-EFTA Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA). The Consolidation, along with revisions, all take effect July 1.
  • CBSA revises schedule for investigations of certain corrosion-resistant steel sheet. In view of the pressures brought on by the COVID‑19 pandemic to interested parties, the Canada Border Services Agency has revised the schedule in relation to the investigations into the dumping and subsidizing of certain corrosion‑resistant steel sheet originating in or exported from Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam.
  • NAFTA textile/apparel TPL utilization. Global affairs updated the 2020 NAFTA textile and apparel tariff preference level utilization rate for imports and exports.
  • Product Recalls: Certain Lochinvar Condensing Gas Boilers and Condensing Gas Combi Boilers manufactured in the United States recalled, for carbon monoxide poisoning hazard; Rainbow SRX Vacuum Cleaners manufactured in the United States recalled, for fire and burn hazards.
