Canadian Government Notices as of Feb. 12
The government of Canada issued the following trade-related notices as of Feb. 12 (note that some may also be given separate headlines):

- Clarifying proof-of-report requirements for exporters and carriers. The Canada Border Services Agency on Feb. 10 issued Customs Notice 20-03, which outlines and explains the new Canadian Export Reporting System (CERS) that introduces a new proof-of-report format and removes a gap that allows the proof-of-report number to be generated before an export declaration has been submitted. This customs notice will clarify exporter and carrier obligations related to the proof-of-report and offer guidance on how to complete an export declaration in three common exportation scenarios.
- Exporter reporting. The Canada Border Services Agency on Feb. 10 issued updates to Memorandum D20-1-1, which outlines and explains the obligations, guidelines and procedures for reporting goods that are exported from Canada. The updates reflect the new Canadian Export Reporting System (CERS) that will be implemented to replace the Canadian Automated Export Declaration (CAED) program to be decommissioned on June 30, 2020.
- Product Recall:Hoppe’s BoreSnake CLP Aerosol manufactured in the U.S. recalled, for flammability hazard.
