- Governments of Canada and Ontario working together to strengthen food safety. The Governments of Canada and Ontario have committed $220,000 in cost sharing funding to support 25 projects at provincially licensed abattoir businesses in Ontario. The funding is targeted to help strengthen food safety in Ontario’s agri-food sector.
- CBSA issues notice of undertaking proposal for certain sucker rods. The Canada Border Services Agency on Dec. 30, 2019, issued a preliminary determination of dumping with respect to certain sucker rods originating in or exported from Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico. As a result, SIMA provides that exporters accounting for all, or substantially all the exports to Canada, may give a written undertaking to revise selling prices to Canada so that the margin of dumping or the injury caused by the dumping is eliminated. Any representations to the CBSA concerning this undertaking must be received by Jan. 24, 2020 (here).
- Product Recalls. Thompson’s WaterSeal Waterproofing Wood Protector manufactured in the United States recalled, for potential leakage and fire hazard (here); Toy Story 4 Backpack in specially marked Pull-Ups Plus training pant manufactured in China recalled, for inspection for potential inclusion of finishing scissors (here); Billy Retractable Safety Gate manufactured in China recalled, for chemical hazard (here).
