Canadian Government Notices as of Dec. 4

The government of Canada issued the following trade-related notices as of Dec. 4 (note that some may also be given separate headlines):

  • CFIA cancels three Safe Food for Canadians Licenses. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced Dec. 2 it has canceled three Safe Food for Canadians Licenses after learning during a food safety investigation that they had received false or misleading information from the license holders concerning E. coli lab results. Effective immediately Ryding-Regency Meat Packers Ltd., Canadian Select Meats Inc. and The Beef Boutique Ltd. (the latter two operating under St. Ann's Foods Inc.) are no longer able to slaughter food animals or prepare meat products for export or to be sent from one province to another.
  • Rail pre-arrival and reporting requirements. The Canada Border Services Agency has updated Memorandum D3-6-6, which outlines and explains specific CBSA requirements and procedures for reporting and controlling cargo imported into Canada by rail carriers.
  • Importation of engines, vehicles, vessels and machines. The Canada Border Services Agency on Nov. 29 updated Memorandum D19-7-4, which outlines the requirements for the importation of regulated engines, vehicles, vessels and machines.
  • Product Recalls: Velvet jackets with drawstrings in hood manufactured in China recalled, for strangulation hazard; Ultra Performance LED Solar 200 Lumen Motion Light manufactured in China recalled, for fire hazard.
