- CBSA issues expiry review decision for certain hot-rolled carbon steel plate. The Canada Border Services Agency has concluded its expiry review investigation of a May 20, 2014, finding of dumping made by the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, and has determined that the expiry of the finding is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping of certain hot-rolled carbon steel plate and high-strength low-alloy steel plate originating in or exported from Brazil, Denmark, Indonesia, Italy, Japan and South Korea. A Statement of Reasons that contains additional details concerning the determination made by CBSA will be posted within 15 days of the Oct. 4 decision.
- Canadian international merchandise trade for August 2019. Statistics Canada reports that in August Canada's exports rose 1.8%, mainly on energy products and aircraft, while imports were up 1%, on gold and crude oil. As a result, Canada's merchandise trade deficit narrowed from $1.4 billion in July to $955 million in August.
