Huawei Drops Lawsuit Against US on 2017 Export Seizure
Huawei dropped a lawsuit against the U.S. after receiving equipment the U.S. had seized from it two years ago, according to a Sept. 9 Reuters report. The lawsuit stemmed from an incident in 2017 in which Commerce seized Huawei equipment that was traveling back to China after lab testing in California, Reuters said. Huawei said it dropped the lawsuit after the U.S. determined an export license was not required and returned the equipment in August this year, the report said.

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, at a press conference, criticized how the U.S. handled the case and said China “firmly opposes the U.S. for making false charges against Chinese companies.”
“Such practice is disgraceful and immoral,” the spokesman said Sept. 10, according to a transcript released by the Chinese Embassy in Washington. “It will severely undermine the reputation and credibility of the US, as well as the confidence of other countries in cooperating with it.”
