Port Everglades to Allow Scanned Submissions for Commercial Cargo Vessels Awaiting Berth Space
Commercial cargo vessels at Port Everglades in Florida that are awaiting berth space "will be approved to submit scanned copies of the original documents needed to be presented to CBP for formal vessel entry processing," Port Director Dylan DeFrancisci said in an Oct. 26 notice. "This change in process is intended to increase the efficiency of processing the formal entry of commercial cargo vessels while they rest at anchorage pending berth space, as well as reduce the need to request CBP overtime services." Only commercial vessels awaiting berth space will be allowed to send the scanned copies, it said.
