The government of Canada recently issued the following trade-related notices as of March 8 (some may also be given separate headlines):

- Canadian international merchandise trade for January 2017. Statistics Canada has reported that Canada’s merchandise trade balance with the world increased from $447 million in December to $807 million in January. Imports were down by 0.3% and exports were up 0.5% during January (here).
- CBSA issues statement of reasons concerning certain silicon metal. The Canada Border Services Agency has issued a statement of reasons concluding that dumping did occur for certain silicon metal originating in or exported from Brazil, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Norway, Russia and Thailand, and that subsidizing of certain silicon metal occurred originating in or exported from Brazil, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Norway and Thailand (here).
- NAFTA textile/apparel TPL utilization. The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade updated the 2017 NAFTA textile and apparel tariff preference level utilization rate for imports (here) and exports (here).
- Product Recalls: Fredric Lou Inc. recalls Spasilk Baby Bathrobe manufactured in China (here), for burn hazard.
