US, Canadian Single Window Data Elements Nearly Fully Aligned

The U.S. and Canadian single window data requirements are about as closely aligned as possible, the White House said in its 2015 Beyond the Border Implementation Report (here). Work also continues to allow for joint applications for the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program with Canada's Partners in Protection (PIP) program (see 1505210013). "Harmonization efforts are initially focused on highway carriers, with other lines of business to follow," it said. "Other benefits include enhanced program delivery, enhanced benefits realized by members, increased program visibility and awareness, enhanced performance measurement reporting." Efforts to implement recommendations from a 2014 wood packaging material feasibility study is also ongoing, the White House said. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and the CBSA are working to address recommendations by "mid-2017."
