they plan to buy a TV set in the next six months, up from 12.5 percent in July, 12.7 percent in June and 13 percent in August 2015, the Conference Board said. The Consumer Confidence Index, which declined marginally in July, improved in August to its highest level in nearly a year, it said: “Consumers’ assessment of both current business and labor market conditions was considerably more favorable than last month. Short-term expectations regarding business and employment conditions, as well as personal income prospects, also improved, suggesting the possibility of a moderate pick-up in growth in the coming months.”
