In a news release Thursday, h.h. gregg said it's honoring America’s first ladies, who “often get overlooked,” during Presidents Day weekend. According to an online survey it commissioned this month of 1,000 U.S. consumers over 18 years old, just over half of millennials said they’ve been inspired to take action based on a first lady’s initiative on healthy eating, literacy or energy efficiency. H.h. gregg is offering deals “inspired by these great women” on products including wearables, tablets and energy-efficient appliances, it said. The h.h. gregg landing page, however, refers to a Presidents Day sale.

Among the h.h. gregg CE deals: a 16 GB iPad Air 2 with Wi-Fi for $449 ($50 off, a price matched by Best Buy) and an LG 47-inch HDTV that meets Energy Star qualifications for $398 ($300 off). Prices are good through the weekend, said the retailer. Citing the survey, the retailer said more than half of Americans plan to make home improvements this year and “with this in mind,” h.h. gregg is offering up to 30 percent off TVs and other products through Feb. 21.

For Valentine’s Day, h.h. gregg is giving away $100 gift cards to five customers who tweet their favorite product valentines out of a selection of nine products shown on the website. The Fitbit valentine says, “Let me count the ways” and a Beats by Dr. Dre headphone valentine reads, “You are music to my ears.” Some of the promo messages work better than others, we found. “Something is brewing between us,” was a natural for a Keurig coffee maker valentine, but the LG “High-definitely love you” tagline came up short.

Dell.com offered members early access to 23 deals for its Presidents Day sale Thursday including a $125 Dell gift card with the purchase of a 40-inch Samsung UN40H5203AF smart TV. The $102 member discount brought the TV down to $427. Dell members can buy the LG 60-inch 60LB5200 for $799 through the weekend, a markdown of $130 that matched the price at Adorama, B&H Photo, Target and other retailers, but Dell threw in a $150 discount to boot.

P.C. Richard, which ran a buy-one-get-one deal on Samsung TVs for the Super Bowl, continued its Samsung dealmaking for Presidents Day. In its weeklong sales event, P.C. Richard is offering a 48-inch Samsung TV for $698 ($300 off) with a $300 wireless soundbar and subwoofer thrown in for free. The retailer used the Roku Streaming Stick as a carrot for other TV brands, dangling it as a bonus prize alongside a purchase of a 40-inch LED-lit Haier TV, marked down $30 to $269, and a JVC 65-inch LED TV, cut by $255 to $744, we found.

At Walmart’s Presidents Day sale, the Vizio P502ui-B1E 4K Ultra HD TV is on rollback to $698 (savings of $301), compared with Target's $749 price, and the LG 49-inch LB5550 is $220 off to $379, bettering the B&H Photo price by $20. Walmart cart-priced the Sony 60-inch KDL60R510A HDTV below the minimum advertised price set by Sony, bringing it to $699. Best Buy was carrying the Sony model for $799 as of Thursday.
