Canadian Government Notices for Dec. 19

The government of Canada issued the following trade-related notices for Dec.19 (note that some may also be given separate headlines):

  • Canadian exports and jobs program “Go Global” workshops. The Minister of International Trade Ed Fast has announced the 2015 “Go Global” workshops which are designed to help boost Canadian exports and jobs. (here)
  • Mandatory reporting for Health Canada’s Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA). Health Canada has announced that it has released the mandatory reporting requirements under Section 14 of the CCPSA which outlines and explains the duties and responsibilities of manufacturers, importers and sellers in the event of an incident relating to consumer product and their duty to report this to the department.   • Canada-Jordan Free Trade Agreement (CJTA). The CBSA has announced new regulations for the CJTA that have been adopted into law such as the adoption of a provision allowing the acceptance of a blanket certificate of origin for a period exceeding twelve months. (here)
  • Certain Oil country tubular goods. The CBSA has made a preliminary determination of dumping for certain oil country tubular goods originating in or exported from Taiwan, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Korea, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam along with the determination of subsidizing of the same goods from India, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Ukraine and Vietnam. The CBSA has also terminated the subsidy investigation in regards to the alleged subsidizing of the above goods from Korea and Turkey. (here)
  • Update to the Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff. The CBSA has released Customs Notice 14-032 which advises that file for the annual January 1st update of the Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff are now available. (here)
