Japan and UK Ball Bearings: Prelim Results of AD Admin Review

The Commerce Department issued the preliminary results of its antidumping duty administrative reviews on ball bearings and parts thereof from Japan (A-588-804) and the United Kingdom (A-412-801). Commerce recently revoked this AD duty order (see 14032524), so the agency will in the final results only set final assessments of AD duties on ball bearings for entries in 2010-11, and will not set cash deposit rates for future entries.

Order Revoked, No Cash Deposits Post-2011

Duties on ball bearings from Japan and the UK were ended in 2011 pursuant to a court order (see 11071517). But in 2013, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit reinstated the duties (see 14032524). However, Commerce again revoked its AD duties on ball bearings from Japan and the UK in March 2014, effective for all entries on or after Sept. 15, 2011. As such, ball bearings from Japan and the UK are no longer subject to AD duty cash deposit requirements, so the rates Commerce is setting in this review are for assessment purposes only.
