Canadian Government Notices for Sept. 22

The government of Canada issued the following trade-related notices for Sept. 22 (note that some may also be given separate headlines).

  • Implementation of the Canada-Honduras Free Trade Agreement (CHFTA). The CBSA has issued a Customs Notice which sets October 1 as the date the CHFTA will be implemented and will eliminate the customs duties on all imports from Honduras. (here)
  • Withdrawal of Least Developed Country Tariff (LDCT) from Equatorial Guinea and Maldives. The CBSA has issued Customs Notice 14-020 on the withdrawal of the LDCT from all goods that originate in Equatorial Guinea and Maldives, which must now be accounted for under the Most Favored Nation Tariff.   • Certain hot rolled steel plate. The CBSA has announced that after an investigation into the expiry review of certain hot rolled steel plate originating in or exported from the Ukraine it has determined that the result will likely be continuation or resumption of dumping. (here)
  • Certain concrete reinforcing bar. The CBSA has announced the it has made a preliminary determination of dumping and subsidizing for certain concrete reinforcing bar originating in or exported from China, Korea and Turkey. (here)
  • Product Recalls. Homelite and Earthwise 20-inch cordless electric lawn mowers manufactured in China. (here)
