CBP Seeks Comments on Entry of Articles for Exhibition Info Collection

CBP is requesting comments by July 2 for an existing information collection related to the entry of articles for exhibition. CBP proposes to extend the expiration date of this information collection with no change to the burden hours.

Entry of Articles for Exhibition

Goods entered for exhibit at fairs, or for constructing, installing, or maintaining foreign exhibits at a fair, may be free of duty under 19 U.S.C. 1752. In order to substantiate that goods qualify for duty-free treatment, the consignee of the merchandise must provide information to CBP about the imported goods, which is specified in 19 CFR 147.11(c).

CBP Estimates 50 Respondents

CBP estimates the number of respondents annually will be 50, the number of responses per respondent to be 50, with the total annual responses to be 2,500. CBP estimates the time per response will be 20 minutes and total annual burden hours to be 832.

Comments Requested on Ways to Minimize Burden, Etc.

CBP is asking for comments from the general public and other federal agencies on (a) whether the collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the agency, including whether the information shall have practical utility; (b) the accuracy of the agency’s estimates of the burden of the collection of information; (c) ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected; (d) ways to minimize the burden, including the use of automated collection techniques or the use of other forms of information technology; and (e) the annual costs burden to respondents or record keepers from the collection of information (a total of capital/startup costs and operations and maintenance costs).
