CBP Says Preliquidation Refunds of Shrimp CV Duties Now Available
As of April 4, importers may request preliquidation refunds of countervailing duty cash deposits paid on entries of frozen warmwater shrimp from China, India, Thailand, and Vietnam, said CBP. Requests must be submitted in writing to the applicable port of entry. If no request for preliquidation refund is submitted, then the CV duty cash deposits will be refunded at the time of liquidation.

The CV duty cash deposits had been collected in connection with an investigation that ended in September 2013, when the International Trade Commission found no injury is occurring to the U.S. shrimp industry as a result of illegal subsidization (see 13092306). The Commerce Department authorized the refunds of any CV duty cash deposits collected in four messages to CBP dated April 4 (see 14040706).
