CBP Seattle Provides Further Guidance for Cargo Diversions from Vancouver

The CBP Seattle field office issued instructions for how to request cargo diversions for the Area Port of Seattle as shippers seek to lessen the effects of the on- going truckers strike at Port Metro Vancouver. The Trade Information Notice asks that all cargo diversion requests for the ports of Seattle, Tacoma and Everett be sent to the Advanced Targeting Unit at Seattle ATU@cbp.dhs.gov . Diversion requests must include information on vessel name, voyage number, date, port and terminal of arrival, said CBP. Less than full vessels should also include information on the number of containers and container identifiers, it said. CBP previously issued guidance as to the regulatory requirements for the cargo diversions (see 14031914).
