State SHC to Hold Meetings on Shipping Routes, Safety Standards

The State Department’s Shipping Coordinating Committee (SHC) will hold (here) a public meeting in Washington D.C. on March 12 to prepare for an International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Marine Environment Protection Committee session, slated to be held at the IMO headquarters in the United Kingdom from March 31 - April 4. The SHC meeting will focus on identification and protection of sensitive sea routes and inadequate reception facilities, among other subjects. The SHC will also hold (here) meetings on March 13 and June 11 in Arlington, Va. to prepare for the first session of the IMO’s Sub-Committee on Navigation, Communication, and Search and Rescue, slated to be held at IMO headquarters June 30 - July 4. The SHC meeting will focus on the routing of ships, ship reporting and safety standards, among other subjects.
