CBP Announces Closings, 'Snow Days' at Ports Across South

CBP Ports of Entry across the South announced closings Feb. 12 due to inclement weather. Some ports were also closed on Feb. 11, and closings at others have already been announced for Feb. 13. CBP said it will grant “snow days” allowing an extra day for all entry summaries and duty payments that were due on the dates of the closings, as follows:

  • The Port of Charlotte, N.C. closed at noon Feb. 11 (here) at noon, and will remain closed on Feb. 12 (here), said CBP in two CSMS messages. For emergencies, contact Assistant Port Director Jennifer Jameson at (704) 329-6119. Updates will be provided via the port’s weather hotline at (704) 329-6122, said CBP.
  • The Port of Huntsville, Ala. was also closed Feb. 11 (here). As of press time, no CSMS message had been posted announcing the port’s status for Feb. 12. Questions should be directed to Port Director David Berry at (256) 772-3404.
  • The Port of Atlanta closed on Feb. 12, said CBP (here). Inquiries for that port should be directed to Supervisory Entry Officer Pam Harris at (404) 675-1280.
  • The Ports of Greenville and Columbia, S.C. closed on Feb. 12 because of the weather (here). The CSMS message announcing the closure also said the ports expect a delayed opening on Feb. 13. For emergency service requests, contact Port Director Wayne Henson at (803) 315-5901. The Ports of Charleston and Myrtle Beach remain operational as of press time, according to the CSMS message.
  • The Port of Greensboro, N.C. announced closures on both Feb. 12 and Feb. 13, in a CSMS message (here). For emergencies contact Port Director Steve Bowie at (336) 451-0441.

For each of these dates, CBP is granting a local closure day (“snow day”) to all who file entries at closed ports, it said. CBP said it is extending an additional day, without penalty, for any entry summaries and payments of duties that were due on these dates at the closed ports.
