State Solicits Defense Trade Advisory Group Membership

The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs’ Defense Trade Advisory Group (DTAG) is soliciting membership applications from defense industry experts, along with defense trade and labor association personnel. DTAG is designed to provide the State Bureau of Political-Military Affairs a mechanism to consult with private sector defense exporters and specialists on U.S. laws, policies, and regulations for munitions exports. DTAG advises State on methods of reducing obstacles to non-threatening exports, while preserving national security interests. DTAG addresses the following subject matters:

Export Compliance Daily combines U.S. export control news, foreign border import regulation and policy developments into a single daily information service that reliably informs its trade professional readers about important current issues affecting their operations.

  • policy issues on commercial defense trade and technology transfer
  • regulatory and licensing procedures applicable to defense articles, services and technical data
  • technical issues involving the U.S. Munitions List
  • questions relating to actions designed to carry out the Arms Export Control Act and International Traffic in Arms Regulations

DTAG members must be U.S. citizens. Members will serve for an initial two-year term, at which point their membership may be renewed or terminated. Those interested should email applications to DTAG@state.gov, with the subject “DTAG Application,” or send in a hardcopy to the following address:
