State Designates Entities Specially Designated Global Terrorists, Foreign Terrorist Organizations

The State Department designated two organizations Specially Designated Global Terrorists for having committed, or posing a significant risk of committing, acts of terrorism that threaten the security of U.S. nationals or the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the U.S. State determined no prior notice needs to be given to block funds transfers, originating from individuals or entities with a constitutional presence in the U.S., to the following organizations:

  • Boko Haram, also known as Nigerian Taliban, also known as Jama’atu Ahlus-Sunnah Lidda’Awati Wal Jihad, also known as Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda'awati wal-Jihad, also known as People Committed to the Prophet’s Teachings for Propagation and Jihad, also known as Sunni Group for Preaching and Jihad is now a Specially Designated Global Terrorist organization (here).
  • Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimina Fi Biladis-Sudan, also known as Ansaru, also known as Ansarul Muslimina Fi Biladis Sudan, also known as Vanguards for the Protection of Muslims in Black Africa, also known as JAMBS, also known as Jama’atu Ansaril Muslimina Fi Biladis Sudan is also now a Specially Designated Global Terrorist organization (here).

State also designated Boko Haram a Foreign Terrorist Organization (here), as well as Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimina Fi Biladis-Sudan (here), pursuant to the Immigration and Nationality Act.
