  • Harper Government key initiatives highlighted at Annual Ontario Economic Summit. The Minister of Finance Jim Flaherty speaking at the 10th Annual Ontario Economic Summit emphasized Canada’s commitment and investment in growing Canadian businesses and also highlighted the fact that Canada has the lowest tax rate among the G-7 countries. The Minister also reinforced the fact that Canada is positioned to be the only G-8 country to have preferential access to the world’s largest markets the EU and the United States. (here)
  • China imposes anti-dumping on Canadian wood pulp exports. The Chinese Government has announced that it has made a preliminary determination to impose antidumping duties on the import of wood pulp from Canada, the United States and Brazil. Canadian producers and exporters will face an additional 13% duty rate on of wood pulp to China. (here)
  • Minister Fast and Ambrose meet with patient groups over Canada-EU Trade Agreement. The Minister of International Trade Ed Fast and the Minister of Health Rona Ambrose meet with representatives of Canada’s patient groups to discuss the Canada-EU Trade Agreement and the effect it will have on drug patient protections and intellectual property rights for Canadian firms as well as opportunities for investment and market development.
