CBP Approves Release of TRQ Shipments at Lower Duty Rate Due to Shutdown
CBP headquarters will allow for the release of shipments subject to tariff rate quotas at the lower duty rate that opened Oct. 1, said CBP's New York office of field operations in an informational pipeline. The decision is a result of the federal government shutdown, the notice said.

"The importing community should be aware that although merchandise is being released as entered, CBP headquarters will work with ports at a future date, to determine appropriate tariff rates as required," it said. "Please be advised that shipments which are released at the lower duty rate may be subject to future CBP duty bills if quota is unavailable. The importing community also has the option of warehousing merchandise until the shutdown is resolved."
