During the meeting, Algirdas Šemeta, EU Commissioner for Taxation and Customs Union, said efficient and effective customs remain important for economic growth and competitiveness, and cited the need to improve the quality and availability of data for risk analysis purposes through closer engagement with economic operators, and to continue working on potential standards for automatic exchanges of information.
