Port of Seattle Revising 'Resolution Requests' for Missing Entry Summary Docs
The Area Port of Seattle is revising its Resolution Request notice for missing entry summaries, said CBP in a June 10 Trade Information Notice. The revised Resolution Request will “add emphasis,” because filing of entry documents at summary is time-sensitive, and delays may negatively affect assessment of liquidated damages, CBP said. The new version of the request will apply to all entities filing entries and entry summaries at the Area Port of Seattle, it said.

Export Compliance Daily combines U.S. export control news, foreign border import regulation and policy developments into a single daily information service that reliably informs its trade professional readers about important current issues affecting their operations.
The new Resolution Request will be used when requesting missing documents as identified at the time of collection (not included in the collection statement) or at the post-collection review event, CBP said. It will alert the recipient that quick submission of the requested documents “is critical to avoiding liquidated damages or reducing the assessment amount.”
Use of Resolution Requests at the Area Port of Seattle to communicate other issues will otherwise continue without change, CBP said. The revised requests will only be used for entry summaries that have time-sensitive submission concerns (10-day submission of entry summary after entry).
