Canadian Government Notices for Jan. 23

The government of Canada issued the following trade-related notices for Jan. 23 (Note that some may also be given separate headlines.)

  • Passover products remission order. The CBSA amended Memorandum D8-3-6 which outlines the conditions under which products imported for use during the Passover holidays qualify for customs duty free entry and Goods and Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax relief. (here)
  • Galvanized steel wire. The CITT gave notice that it has initiated a preliminary injury inquiry to determine whether there is enough evidence that dumping occurred for galvanized steel wire originating in or exported in China, Israel, Spain and subsidizing for the same products from China.   • Importing and exporting firearms, weapons, and devices. The CBSA issued Memorandum D19-13-2 which outlines how tariff item 9898.00.00 can be applied as it relates to the importing and exporting of firearms, firearm parts, weapons, devices, and certain types of ammunition. (here)
  • Certain copper pipe fittings. The CBSA is accepting reply submissions from all parties in respect to alleged dumping of certain copper pipe fittings originating in or exported from China, Korea and the United States of America. (here)
