China Adds 44 Items to Tariff Lists, Makes Other Adjustments Effective Jan. 1
China's Ministry of Finance added 44 items Dec. 17 to its Tariff Implementation Plan for 2013, for a total of 8,238 export and import items, according to the official government website. The added items include hydrogen selenide, biological insecticides, refuse incinerators and concrete pump trucks, it said. The changes take effect Jan. 1, according to a statement posted on the MOF website.

It also said China will implement temporary tax rates lower than the most favorable national tariff on more than 780 imported commodities next year, including seasoning products, pacemakers, special-formula infant milk powder, industrial robots for auto manufacturing, and resources products like kaolin, alfalfa and eiderdown.
Other details include:
- Some imports from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan will be tariff-free next year.
- There will be reduced rates for some commodities from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations member states, Pakistan and New Zealand.
- Temporary tariffs will continue on exports including coal, crude oil, chemical fertilizers and iron alloy in order to conserve resources.
