Canadian Government Notices for Oct. 29

The government of Canada issued the following trade-related notices for Oct. 29 (Note that some may also be given separate headlines.)

  • Canada-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement. The Minister of International Trade Ed Fast said Canada will begin the first round of negotiations with Japan that will open up new markets for Canadian products and exports. (here)
  • High compliance rates for food samples. The CFIA released its annual testing results of various food products and has that of the 20,000 food samples 98 percent of the samples were compliant with Health Canada standards. (here)
  • Canada Telecommunications. The Minister of Industry Christian Paradis, speaking at a conference highlighted the steps the Harper Government is taking to support competition, investment and consumer choice in Canada’s telecommunications sector. Effective March 14, 2012, the Harper Government said it plans to eliminate foreign investment restrictions for certain telecommunication companies. (here)
  • China steel piling pipe. The CBSA issued a statement of reasons in regards to its preliminary determination respecting the dumping and subsidizing of certain steel piling pipe originating in or exported from China. (here)
  • China unitized wall modules. The CBSA issued a statement of reasons for the alleged dumping and subsidizing for certain unitized wall modules originating in or exported from China. (here)
