APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Sept. 25

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service issued emails Sept. 25 announcing changes to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Plants for Planting Manual: The Interim Edition of the Plants for Planting Manual (here) has been updated, transmittal 09/2012-11, to revise CITES information. Revisions, indicated by a black change bar in the left margin of each revised page, are as follows:

  • Chapter 4, Regulated Propagative Material: Replaced CITES appendix numbers, footnote numbers, and links throughout the chapter
  • Page 6-2: Added the latest CITES Interpretation effective September 25, 2012
  • Page 6-3: Added a link to the CITES Appendices website and updated information about the annotations to the CITES Appendices
