APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Sept. 19

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service issued emails Sept. 19 announcing changes to Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the animal product manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed after the individual page and table numbers below.

UNIVERSAL CHANGE: All references to "PPQ-VRS" have been changed to "PPQ-QPAS-VRS"

Chapter 2-3 Clearing Regulated Passenger Baggage

  • Table 2-3-6 Determine Action Based on Results of Inspection table has been replaced

Chapter 3-12 Foreign Origin Meat and Meat Products, Ruminants

  • Page 3-12-2 warning box - language has been added after first sentence

Chapter 3-15 Miscellaneous Products

  • Table 3-15-10 Human Pharmaceuticals, Human Vaccines, Antivenom, Dietary Supplements, Organs and Their Derivatives, and Nutriceuticals Containing Animal-Derived Components table has been replaced

Appendix H: List of Veterinarians

  • Table H-1-2 List of PPQ--AQI--VMO - Dr. Lisa Whiting's and Dr. Asghar Chaudhry's contact information has been updated
  • Table H-1-3 List of VS-TTSPS Import Staff - Dr. Shearon Smith and Dr. Thomas Letonja have been removed from the table

Links contained throughout the manual in the Table of Contents, List of Figures, List of Tables, and Index as well as internal and external cross-references have all been updated as needed.
