APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Aug. 21
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service issued emails Aug. 21 announcing changes to some Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed after the individual page or table numbers below.
Table 3-12-21 Fresh (chilled or frozen) meat of ruminants change language regarding boneless beef imported from Japan has been added to the table
Appendix A: Guide to Entry Status of Animal Products in Passenger Baggage or Mail
- Page A-1-23 Japan "X" has been deleted from FMD column; "X" has been added to FMD/SR column; footnote #9 reference has been added to Fresh (Chilled or Frozen) column
- Page A-1-29 new footnote #9 language has been added
- Pages A-1-37 through Page A-1-41 Importations of Boneless Beef from Japan in Passenger Baggage section and introductory language has been added
- NEW Table A-1-12 Boneless beef from Japan in passenger baggage has been added*
- Page A-1-38 two notices have been added
- NEW Figure A-1-2 Export Quarantine Certificate has been added
- NEW Figure A-1-3 Attachment to the Export Quarantine Certificate has been added
- NEW Figure A-1-4 Official Meat Inspection Certificate for Fresh Meat and Meat By-Products has been added
Appendix C: List of Foreign Countries and Their Disease Status
- Page C-1-7 Japan "FMD" has been deleted from the Disease Status Affected With column; "FMD/SR" has been added to the With SR column
*Subsequent tables in Appendix A-1 will be renumbered to reflect the addition of NEW Table A-1-12.
Links contained throughout the manual in the Table of Contents, List of Figures, List of Tables, and Index as well as internal and external cross-references have all been updated as needed.
