APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for Aug. 1

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service issued emails Aug. 1 announcing changes to some Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Animal Product Manual: The following changes have been made to the Animal Product Manual (here) to reflect up-to-date information and corrections. The specific changes are listed after the individual table numbers below.

Chapter 3-11: Foreign Origin Meat and Meat Products, Poultry

  • Table 3-11-2 Where to Find the Final Regulatory Action to Take When VS Permit Does Not Authorize Entry; third column (And is from:), sixth through ninth cells have been deleted; for fresh (chilled or frozen) meat or meat products, users are now directed to Table 3-11-15

Appendix H: List of Veterinarians

  • Table H-1-2 List of PPQ-AQI-VMO; address information for Dr. Asghar A. Chaudhry has been corrected

Links contained throughout the manual in the Table of Contents, List of Figures, List of Tables, Index, as well as internal and external cross-references have all been updated.

Seeds Not for Planting Manual: The Seeds Not for Planting Manual (here) has been updated, transmittal 08/2012-48, to add the new certification end date and revise the address of an approved Niger seed treatment facility. The revisions are on page 3-40.

Hawaii Manual: The online Hawaii Manual (here) has been revised. The reason for the revision was to add "stem" to the admissible plant parts for basil. Changes are indicated by black change bars in the left margin on page 3-2.
