Canadian Government Notices for Aug. 1

The government of Canada issued the following trade-related notices for Aug. 1. Note that some may also be given separate headlines)

  • Meat import re-inspection initiative. As part of the beyond Borders Action Plan the USDA and CFIA will be working jointly to implement a pre-clearance initiative to consider alternative methods for reviewing import documents for the release of shipments that are destined for further processing.   • Wheat export permits. CBSA issued Customs Notice 12-019, that effective Aug. 1, the Canadian Wheat Board will no longer issue export licenses for shipments of wheat, durum, and barley leaving Canada. (here)
  • NAFTA textile/apparel TPL utilization. DFAIT updated the 2012 NAFTA textile and apparel tariff preference level utilization rate for imports and exports. (here
  • China unitized wall modules. The CBSA issued a statement of reasons respecting the alleged injurious dumping and subsidizing of unitized wall modules originating in or exported from China. (here)
  • China steel pipe piles. The CITT conducted a preliminary injury inquiry into whether there is evidence that the dumping and subsidizing of carbon and alloy steel pipe piles having originated in or exported from China have caused injury or are threatening to cause injury. (here)
  • Carbon steel welded pipe. A preliminary injury inquiry decision found that carbon steel welded pipe originating in or exported from Taiwan, India, Oman, Korea, Thailand, and UAE and the subsidizing from India, Oman and UAE have caused injury or are threatening to cause injury. (here)
  • Product Recalls. Vaude Child Carriers Kenta and Kenta Plus manufactured in China (here), Peg Perego Pliko P3 and Venezia strollers manufactured in Italy (here)
