FERC Seeking Comments on LNG Export Project
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission said proposed changes to the Freeport LNG Development project to prepare and export liquified natural gas require an Environmental Impact Statement, and is seeking public comment. The project is in Brazoria County, Texas.

Freeport plans to add natural gas liquefaction and exportation capabilities to its existing LNG import terminal on Quintana Island in Brazoria County. It said the project would produce about 13.2 million metric tons per year of LNG, allowing Freeport to convert domestically produced natural gas to LNG for storage and export. Freeport LNG expects to be ready to commence LNG exports in late 2015.
FERC plans a public hearing at 7 p.m. Aug. 9 in Lake Jackson, Texas. Written comments are due by Aug. 20, referencing Project docket number PF11-2-000.
