ILA Confirms Progress on Longshoremen Contract Talks

Contract talks with the U.S. Maritime Alliance (USMX) will resume July 18-21 at the Delray Beach Marriott in Delray Beach, Fla., as expected, said International Longshoremen's Association President Harold Daggett. Lengthy sessions between the ILA and USMX saw movement on two major issues the union considers vitally important for a successful agreement - automation and chassis pools, the ILA said. It said ILA presented all its demands and USMX gave its proposals on the first day of joint meetings, but both sides agreed to withhold details of their respective proposals until ILA Wage Scale delegates could present them to members.
