APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for June 15

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service issued emails June 15 announcing changes to some Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

FAVIR & Fruits and Vegetables Manual:FAVIR (here) and the Fruits and Vegetables Manual (here) have been revised. The reasons for the revision are:

  • Tomatoes from Netherlands: removed grower information
  • Longan from Taiwan: clarified the inspection procedures

In FAVIR, open the Commodity Import Report (CIR) to view the import requirements. The manual page numbers that have changed are 2-64, 2-65, and 3-219 (changes are indicated by black bars in the left margin.)
