Energy Advisory Committee to Back ITA Budget, Make Suggestions on Boosting Exports
The Commerce Department's Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee supports for the International Trade Administration's FY2013 budget and suggests items to consider during the proposed reorganization of the U.S. government trade agencies, in a letter and 11 recommendations it will deliver to the Under Secretary of International Trade at Commerce and other government officials.

The recommendations focus on addressing local content requirements, increasing access to sources of new capital for investment in the U.S. renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors, increasing the speed of the Overseas Private Investment Corp.'s decision-making process and boosting public awareness of the resulting benefits to U.S. employment, and improving finance options pertaining to shipping by U.S. renewable energy exporters, it said.
During the meeting at which it will deliver the letter and recommendations, the committee will also provide feedback on their committee activities, which the Department may use in the committee rechartering process for 2012-2014, it said.
