APHIS Updates PPQ Manuals for May 29

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service issued emails May 29, 2012, announcing changes to some Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) electronic manuals. While some changes are minor, other changes may affect the admissibility of the plant products, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Treatment Manual: The Treatment Manual (here) was revised. The reasons for the revisions are:

  • Page 5-4-8: added treatment schedule T301-e
  • Pages 5-4-3 through 5-4-7: revised treatment schedules T301-b-2, T301-b-3, T301-c, T301-d-1-1, T301-a-1-1, T301-a-1-2, T301-a-2, T301-a-4, T301-a-5-1, T301-a-5-2
  • Page 5-2-64 and 5-2-66: added a footnote to "avocado" alerting the reader to possible damage from fumigation (treatment schedules T104-a-1 and T104-a-2)

Seeds Not for Planting Manual: The Seeds Not for Planting Manual (here) was updated, transmittal 05/2012-46, to change the APHIS treatment requirement for fuzzy cotton seed from Australia. Revisions, indicated by black change bars in the left margin on the revised page, are on page 3-15.
