State Seeking Comment on Vantage Ethane Pipeline to Canada
The State Department is seeking comment on the Environmental Assessment related to the Vantage US LP application for a Presidential Permit to construct and operate facilities at the border for a proposed pipeline carrying ethane from North Dakota to Canada.

State said the EA will be used in its decision-making process to determine whether the project would serve the national interest. It seeks comments on both the EA itself and whether the entire project serves the national interest. Comments are due June 2 to: State Department Vantage Comments, 2020 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Box #501, Washington, D.C. 20006, or to http://vantagepipeline.state.gov.
The Vantage Pipeline Project would be an underground high vapor pressure pipeline to carry liquid ethane from Tioga, N.D., to Alberta, Canada. In the U.S., Vantage would build 79.8 miles of 10-inch-diameter ethane pipeline in Williams and Divide Counties, N.D. The ethane is extracted from North Dakota-produced natural gas and compressed to a liquid form at an existing natural gas facility. The ethane in the Vantage Pipeline would be a flammable liquid that is non-corrosive, odorless, and colorless, with similar characteristics to natural gas. . The Canadian National Energy Board approved the Canadian portion of the pipeline system January 19.
